Lighter than it used to be5
I received this pan today and made dinner for the family with it. It works well. The lid is reasonably well-fitting. I’m commenting here to note that when I saw this deal I wondered if it was too good to be true, but it’s in fact the genuine article. And also – this pan is significantly lighter than my five- or six-year-old all-clad stainless 12″ fry pan (which needed replacing after operator error) – about 1.22 kg vs 1.38 kg according to my kitchen scale. That’s a plus for ease of use and cleanup, but the reduced mass must mean less heat retention if the design hasn’t changed.

Awesome Pan5
This pan was recommended by America’s Test Kitchen, and I can see why. It is the best pan that I have ever used. It is very even heating and has a large, useable cooking surface. It cleans up well with Barkeeper’s friend cookware cleaner. It looks as good as it cooks. The pan is normally $130 without the lid, so at this price it’s a bargain. Don’t think twice, it’s well worth it.

All Clad 12 inch stainless steel fry pan5
After using this frying pan I will no longer buy the non-stick pans. This pan cooks so even and browns up so much better. I’ve purchased top of the line non-stick pans in my life only to be dissappointed shortly after I buy them. This pan is also beautiful. It shines up great. The lid is a plus. It is clear so you can see right thru it. Since I bought this pan and I like it so much, I also plan on widening my collection of the All Clad brand. The only down fall is the price. But if you shop around like I did, you will be able to find a pretty good deal.

What Customers are Saying:

Excellent Picture Quality, Buy.5
I spent close to an hour in the store comparing LCD TVs. This LG stood out with its sharp and bright colors. I used the store’s Internet connection to check out the reviews but since it is a new model there wasn’t many. The older model however was popular among gamers.

The speakers on this TV are hidden on the back and this gives it a neat look. The speakers also sound great. There are different sound options in the menu plus advanced picture controls. In “Intelligent Sensor” mode the TV adjust the brightness and color contrast according to the room lighting conditions. The picture quality is easy to setup using the picture wizard option.

This TV has three HDMI connections in the back to use with your laptop or desktop plus an RGB (VGA Cable). There is also a USB 2.0 port in the back. I connected a USB thumb drive and was able to listen to music and display my digital pictures on the screen.

Over all I am very pleased with quality of this LG model and recommend it to anyone who wants to buy a LCD TV for under $1k, and I mean not for picture quality but the size of the screen since this had as good, if not better, picture quality as other more expensive models in the store.

Awesome TV5
Overall this is a great tv. I own a LG blu-ray player as well and when mated with this tv it looks amazing. The 120hz Trumotion is really fun to watch sports on and can’t wait till football season. Thanks LG for another great product!!

I would not buy an LG TV1
I would not buy an LG LCD TV. I have own 3 of them, two 42″ and one 32″ and all of them went on the blink within 2 years or less. The first 42″ would not power on at all and needed a new main board at a cost of $600. The second 42″ would produce sound but no picture (screen black) and the third, the 32″, would power on and off by itself when changing channels. The last two are now at the recycler as the cost to repair was over half of a new one. I replaced them with Sony’s and the picture quality is far better, so far with no issues.

As seen on A&E and The Biography Channel

WHAT EVIL LURKS BEYOND THE WELL-TRIMMED HEDGES OF MIDSOMER . . .

The cozy villages of Midsomer County reveal their most sinister secrets in these contemporary British television mysteries. Inspired by the novels of Caroline Graham, modern master of the English village mystery, the series stars John Nettles (Bergerac) as the unflappable Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby with John Hopkins (Love in a Cold Climate) as his brash young assistant, Sergeant Dan Scott. Guest stars include Garry Cooper, Diana Quick, Harriet Walter, and Caroline Blakiston.

THE MYSTERIES
Things That Go Bump in the Night — A series of grisly murders rocks the village of Fletcher’s Cross and a group of controversial spiritualists fall under suspicion.
Dead in the Water — Barnaby and Scott immerse themselves in the luxurious world of rowing after a murder mars the annual Midsomer Regatta.
Orchis Fatalis — In the orchid-mad village of Midsomer Malham, Barnaby and Scott must discover who would kill to own an extremely rare specimen.
Bantling Boy — Why did the owner of Bantling Hall bequeath his champion thoroughbred to four Midsomer villagers? The only person who knows doesn’t live to tell the tale.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE Caroline Graham biography and cast filmographies.

They continue to drizzle these out.5
Midsomer Murders Set 9 is actually comprised of four episodes from Series 8:
Episode 1 – Things That Go Bump in the Night,
Episode 2 – Dead in the Water,
Episode 4 – Orchis Fatalis, and
Episode 5 – Bantling Boy.

Episode 3 – Ghosts of Christmas Past, the Christmas Special was included in the previous set.

There are three more episodes in the eighth series (Second Sight, Hidden Depths, and Sauce for the Goose), and once again, we will have to wait for another set to see them. In England these were released in sets of 10 episodes (at $100 to $200 US per set). If they want to issue fewer episodes per set in the U.S. to keep the price down on each set, they could still have issued multiple sets at one time, covering an entire series.

With that said, this is still my all-time favorite mystery series. I still haven’t completely adjusted to Barnaby’s new assistant, but I’m liking him better with time. Well-plotted, well-acted, with interesting guest stars.

SETTLING IN5
Chief Inspector Barnaby and Sergeant Scott have certainly settled into a comfortable relationship while investigating some dastardly murders in and near the lovely and comfortable little English village of Midsomer. To me, they are every bit as good together as were Barnaby and Troy, his former partner. Again John Nettles, as Barnaby is so very good as a very wise and mellow Chief Inspector investigating with his young and subtly humorous partner Seergent Scott as played wonderfully by John Hopkins. I really feel they have become a very good team bouncing off each other wonderfully–Scott with his rather droll humor and Barnaby with his very wise and extremely nice manner.
The dead body count is not nearly as high as in some previous episodes; however, the stories are extremely engrossing; they kept this viewer guessing just who might have done the nasty deed(s) through out the episode until all was revealed. I really loved the episode entitled “Things That Go Bump in the Night” which is filled with voices from the grave, bludgeoned heads and slit wrists, lustful “men of the cloth”, hysterical widows and mediums able to do spooky voices–the actress that plays the bereaved widow is really good being at one moment beside herself with grief and the next moment very funny indeed. “Orchis Fatalis” is another good episode with folks being strangled, poisoned and pitched-forked to death because of a rare orchid. In that episode there is also an appealing gardner that is ploughing more than folk’s yards. Plus all of the episodes are filled with some great characters that are played by some wonderful British actors that I have seen many times in other presentations. (one example being Diana Quick)

Obviously, per usual, I really enjoyed Season Nine of the “Midsomer Murders” series; it certainly maintains the high standards that were set by the first seasons.

DCS Barnaby returns refreshed to the well-groomed villages and corpses of Midsomer County5
These four programs, 100 minutes each, constitute the first half of Midsomer Murders eighth season. The murders, and there are a lot of them, happen in the villages of Midsomer County. The landscape is idyllically English, with ample greensward, manicured lawns, carefully trimmed hedges, cosy cottages and perfect gardens. The people of Midsomer County, ranging from working blokes to landed aristocrats, are for the most part well-mannered. Gossip is a cottage industry. If it weren’t for all the corpses, the villages and towns of Midsomer County would be a fine place to live. As it is, they’re a fine place to die. Because of the corpses, we have Detective Chief Superintendent Tom Barnaby, unflappable, courteous, curious, relentless, with a sly, dry sense of humor that should make a smart murderer wary. DCS Barnaby is played by John Nettles, and it’s hard to say who is the more authentic, the actor or the character. The one thing for sure is that it is a perfect fit. Nettles makes the series work. When he as Barnaby comes on the scene, we know we’re in for an intelligent, very British, understated and amusing series of lethal riddles and satisfying solutions. At least we were. The last three shows of Midsomer Murders seventh series showed the dreaded influence of American television crime series…the oh-too-serious psychological back-story, heavy-handed and actorly acting, the gratuitous use of sex for ratings, actors who were a bit green and unformed, and a detective sidekick, male or female, who was more luscious hunk than helper.

The weaknesses seem to have been rectified with the start of the eighth season. The mysteries are complicated but we are back to spending more time on clever clues and motivations than on inner angst. I still miss the appearance of some of Britain’s fine character actors…they started being phased out several seasons ago…but the acting is back up to the skill level that had become shaky in the last season. Tom Barnaby’s sergeant, Dan Scott (played by John Hopkins), is a handsome young man who is competent and conscientious. But now Scott is clearly Barnaby’s detective helper and is not, at least in these four shows, used to imply a possible love interest with Barnaby’s grown daughter or to mix it up in bed with a story character. Even Barnaby’s daughter, Cully Barnaby (Laura Howard), has been toned down and reined in. She’d been getting on my nerves with that gloomy, dissatisfied cloud that followed her around in previous shows. It had reached the point where she even became involved in a couple of the mysteries. Now, along with Barnaby’s wife Joyce (Jane Wymark), she’s back to simply showing us the smart, loving family Barnaby comes home to when he’s not capturing crazed prelates and mad orchid enthusiasts. This return to the roots of what made Midsomer Murders so satisfying and engaging I put to the reappearance of Betty Willingale. She was Midsomer Murders’ first producer, then program consultant. After a couple of years away, she’s now back as consulting producer. If she’s the one responsible, I think it was just in time. Whatever the reason, Midsomer Murders with these four shows from the start of the eighth season gives us a refreshed series.

Things That Go Bump in the Night takes place in Fletcher’s Cross. It combines spiritualism, gullibility, lust and slaughter. Not bad for a charming English village.
Dead Water finds Barnaby and Scott in the midst of the annual Midsomer Regatta. Here Midsomer County’s well-to-do find themselves dropping like oars.
Orchis Fatalis gives us and Barnaby a chance to learn about the the passion for orchids among the residents of Midsomer Malham. It is a passion that leads to lethal consequences.
Bantling Boy takes place among the wealthy inhabitants of Bantling Hall, and a syndicate which owns a great racehorse named Bantling Boy. As members of the syndicate die, Barnaby must discover why the syndicate is made up of such an odd mix of Midsomer inhabitants.

The DVD transfer is pristine. England’s hills, dales, villages and dead people never looked better.

Great picture and perfect size for guest bedroom5
I just received this television and am very happy with it for multiple reasons:
1. It’s the perfect size for our guest bedroom (approx. 10×12). We tried a 42″ plasma but it seemed to take up too much space on the dresser and dominated the room.
2. In my opinion, the picture is better than the plasma we tried (42″ Samsung). Plasmas have darker blacks, but the colors just don’t pop like they do on the LCD televisions we have (we also have a 52″ Samsung LCD in the family room). FYI, we have a 42″ Panasonic plasma in our bedroom which I like, so maybe Panasonic just makes a better TV in this price range. Who knows?
3. Set-up was incredibly easy. 8 screws to attach the base to the TV and you’re done with that part. The TV leads you through a set-up procedure when you turn it on the first time: setting the language, date/time, selecting/naming input sources, etc.
4. The iPod/iPhone plug-in is a nice add-on. Basically, it’s a free throw in and if nothing else, you can use it as a charger for your iPod/iPhone even if you don’t want to play music with it.

I would go so far as to recommend this TV for a main television given the overall picture quality and ease of use. For the price, this one is going to be tough to beat.

No complaints, really…5
Got this because I moved into a new apartment that already had a bracket on the wall for a flatscreen TV with a label that said, “No greater than 37 inches”. So I looked for 37-inch models online and compared, and got this one because it was at a reasonable price and had the extra feature of the iPod/iPhone dock. Sometimes I’m driving home from work listening to podcasts and want to plug the iPhone in somewhere at the house to finish listening to it.

I use it mostly with an Apple TV via HDMI (another reason I got a 720p instead of a 1080p) and it looks great. I purchased a Sharp Sound Bar (HTSB500) separately and they work nicely together, but there’s one little bug. I linked them with an optical cable (the only all-audio-out option in the TV) and every time the audio goes totally silent, like when I pause the Apple TV, or even when it goes from one song to another, the sound bar stops working for up to 6 seconds, which is rather annoying. I’m guessing the soundbar “turns itself off” when it detects no signal the awakes after hearing it, but the delay can be very annoying. It works fine as long as the audio stream is not interrupted though.

Not sure what else to say about the TV, other than it works great for me.

I Spy takes a second hit at espionage5
Alright, Season Two of “I Spy”! Agents Scott (Bill Cosby) and Robinson (Robert Culp) are at it again as undercover agents for the US government while hitting the international tennis circuit.

As with the first season, the show was filmed in a variety of international locations. Season two was filmed almost exclusively in Burma, Spain, Italy and US, often relying on NBC News bureaus to get much of the show’s footage.

However, it did not depend merely on exotic locations. It also looked at the personal side of espionage. Unlike so many shows of this genre in the 1960s, “I Spy” dealt with agents dying cruel deaths, burning out on the spy game, and even doubting the nature of orders from superiors.

The series was nominated for several awards by the American Cinema Editors, USA (Eddie Award), the National Academy of Arts & Sciences (Emmy Awards), the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (Golden Globes). In fact, Bill Cosby would win at least three consecutive Emmys as the Best Male Actor in a dramatic television series.

The 28 episodes in Season Two include:

1. So Coldly Sweet — Kelly and Scotty are ordered to determine the authenticity of a lovely Soviet agent who claims she wants to defect. (Filmed in Palm Springs, USA). Stars “Hills Street Blues” Sgt, the late Michael Conrad.

2. Lori — In order to safeguard an expert on underground nuclear explosions, Scotty must investigate an old friend (Nancy Wilson), and recruits the man’s sister to help him. (Filmed in Las Vegas, USA) Stars “It Takes A Thief” actor, Malachi Throne.

3. Sofia — Kelly and Scotty go to Rome to meet the latter’s foster daughter, and try to recover a valuable ring stolen by her ne’er-do-well fiance. (Next 3 consecutive episodes filmed in Italy).

4. Vendetta — A vengeful Italian don blames Kelly Robinson for the death of one of his sons, and has the agent kidnapped

5. A Gift from Alexander — Kelly reluctantly seduces a beautiful Soviet major in order to acquire a valuable manuscript sought by a trio of Russian exiles. Stars Anna Karina and Michael Constantine.

6. Trail by Treehouse — Scotty thinks Kelly is dead, and becomes emotionally involved with the woman and boy posing as his wife (Cicely Tyson) and son on a mission. (Filmed in the US for next three episodes).

7. Sparrow hawk — Kelly and Scotty are assigned as bodyguards to a spoiled young Arab king (Walter Koenig aka Mr. Chekov) who wants to experience the highlife in Las Vegas. Also recurring actor Michael Constantine.

8. Will the Real Good Guys Please Stand Up — Moscow sends two agents to Palm Springs to pose as Kelly and Scotty, who are supposed to be guarding a foreign scientist and his beautiful daughter.

9. Bridge of Spies — A watch belonging to Kelly’s father figures into a scheme by a Soviet assassin to kill American agents in Venice. (Back to Italy for four episodes).

10. One of Our Bombs is Missing — Kelly and Scotty are ordered to locate a USAF plane carrying a hydrogen bomb that went down somewhere in Italy.

11. To Florence with Love – Part 1 — Kelly and Scotty are assigned to accompany an American Sunday school teacher (Joey Heatherton) who is delivering a priceless DaVinci painting to a museum in Florence.

12. To Florence with Love – Part 2 — Kelly and Scotty must break into a Florence museum to replace a forgery of a DaVinci painting with the real thing — or is it the other way around?

13. Lisa — A Greek girl (Linda Marsh) coming to America as a mail-order bride is used by the Soviets to expose an infiltrator in their organization. (Filmed in US).

14. Little Boy Lost — A scientist’s son steals a key component of an internal guidance system and Kelly and Scotty must find the boy (Ronny Howard aka Richie Cunningham, Opie) before the enemy does.

15. Father Abraham — A scheme to let a young scientist fall into enemy hands so that he can spill false information is interfered with by the man’s father, an Army general. (Next four episodes filmed in Italy).

16. Rome Take Away Three — When an Italian bureau chief commits suicide because he’s being blackmailed, Kelly and Scotty are assigned the task of destroying the blackmailer.

17. Tonia — Scotty and an American girl (Leslie Uggams) who is part of an anti-American faction in Rome are encouraged to cultivate a relationship by their respective sides.

18. Child Out of Time — Former Nazis who presided over a death camp during the war and who faked their deaths fear retribution from a child who survived the camp and knows their true identities.

19. The Trouble with Temple — Scotty is captured and interrogated by an American expatriate actor (Jack Cassidy) who’s selling NATO maneuver secrets to the Soviets, while Kelly becomes involved with the actor’s girlfriend (Carol Wayne). (Filmed in Spain).

20. The War Lord — Kelly and Scotty deliver the ransom demanded by a Chinese warlord who has kidnapped a female British photojournalist. (Filmed in Burma).

21. A Room with a Rack — Kelly seems to have lost his courage after being tortured by the enemy, and while on vacation in Spain he meets his tormentor again. (Next eight episodes filmed in Spain).

22. Mainly on the Plains — Kelly and Scotty compete with the Soviets to recruit an eccentric Spanish professor (Boris Karloff) who has developed a theory crucial to missile defense.

23. Get Thee to a Nunnery — Kelly and Scotty compete with a sly British agent (Peter Lawford) in their search for a man (Vincent Gardenia) who knows the whereabouts of $14 million in hidden Nazi art treasures.

24. Blackout — When Kelly wakes up with a dead Russian ballerina in his bed, he and Scotty must reconstruct the past few hours to find out who killed her, and why.

25. Magic Mirror — Kelly Robinson falls in love with a beautiful agent, only to discover that she has become the mistress of a ruthless dictator (Ricardo Montalban) who is scheming with the enemy to place ballistic missiles in his country. This one was written by Robert Culp.

26. Night Train to Madrid — Kelly and Scotty must protect an obnoxious American comic (Don Rickles) on a tour of Europe and who is the target of a Soviet agent.

27. Casanova from Canarsie — Kelly and Scotty intervene when a beautiful enemy agent tries to seduce a lowly government file clerk (Wally Cox).

28. Cops and Robbers — Scotty’s mother (Beah Richards) and sister are held hostage by an old friend (Jim Brown) who offers to exchange their lives for valuable microfilm. (Filmed in US).

Great show. Good laughs. Super scripts, some of which Culp wrote and directed, which was a rarity back then. Love the `pop art’ style introduction. Infectious music. Highly recommended. Tennis, anyone?

3 Excellent Episodes!4
This edition features 2 of the best Mexico episodes, and a superlative Japan episode. “Bet Me A Dollar” starts as a lightheared bet between a bored Kelly and Scott, which becomes a race against time as Scotty must find his friend who has been dosed with anthtrax and has only hours to live. The little boy who guest stars in this one is especially good, and delivers a very strong performance. “Carmelita” is another great one from the Mexico arc as the boys become unwitting babysitters for infant Carmelita as “the opposition” chase after them. (Watch for a cool moment in the teaser as Cosby says a line too early and Culp has to cut him off.) “Tatia” is a very dramatic episode which sees Kelly fall for a beautiful photographer whom Scotty suspects is an opposition agent. A great moment occurs when Scott tells Kelly there’s no way he’s going out let him out to meet her, and calls down to the lobby to let them know they may hear some loud noises like a fight, but not to worry, it’s only a sound effects record. The only drawback to this edition is the video quality of “Tatia” which is a little off, probably due to the source material. But the content more than makes up for it. As usual the other episodes are strikingly clear and beautiful. Remarkable for a series over 35 years old! This is a must have for the I Spy fan, featuring 3 of the best of the series.

Fun Series4
The 82 hour-long episodes (all in color) of the spy adventure series “I Spy” ran from 1965-1968 on NBC. All 28 episodes from season two are on this DVD, there was no significant changes to the style or background from season one. The same can be said for the 26 episodes of Season Three-probably a miscalculation as things had gotten a bit repetitive by that time and the series could have benefited from a bit of a shake-up.

It was a top-notch spy series with a fair amount of same “tongue-in-cheek” self-parody found in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and the popular James Bond movie franchise. But don’t expect the same level of gadgetry and gimmicks; “I Spy” is much more about the witty banter between its pair of spies, Kelly Robertson (Robert Culp) and Alexander Scott (Bill Cosby). Their cover as they travel the world on assorted missions is tennis, Kelly is a tennis pro and Scotty is his trainer. They work for an unnamed U.S. espionage agency.

The intelligent and witty tone of the show obviously appealed to its fans as reflected by its three year broadcast run and subsequent syndication. Much of the credit for this goes to Sheldon Leonard who incorporated the more subtle comedy elements he had experimented with when producing “Make Room for Daddy”, “The Andy Griffith Show”, and “The Dick Van Dyke Show”.

Cosby was hardly an unknown at the time of the series premiere. He was a wildly popular stand-up comic who had appeared many times on television variety shows and sold millions of record albums featuring his semi-autobiographical comedy routines. But his Alexander Scott character is generally a pretty serious guy (he does occasionally sneak in some of his comedy routines) and Cosby’s portrayal is quite believable. Prior to this no comedian (and certainly no black comedian) had stared in an action show.

Culp is not so much the dashing James Bond style hero as a contemporary version of the less macho Bret Maverick type. He is not above pleading ignorance or confusion in a crisis. Fortunately the chemistry was excellent between the two stars.

Then again, what do I know? I’m only a child.

Happy Customers Say:

Amazing sound from small speakers5
I bought these speakers for my home theater system which consists of Yamaha RX-V663BL 665 Watt 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver and Velodyne DEQ-10R 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer (Black) I didn’t have the floor space for big speakers because of the many doors and other furniture in the room but was concerned that these speakers wouldn’t be powerful enough to fill our family room/kitchen combination. It’s like a double room with the family room on one end and the kitchen on the other, covering about 42 x 24 feet. There are lots of windows and doors one one side which makes the room an acoustical nightmare. We have the rear speakers placed about halfway back, the length of the room.

But I needn’t have worried because these speakers do a fantastic job despite their small size. I bought Mirage MS-STB-1 Nanosat speaker stands Black for the front speakers and mounted the rear ones on the wall with the mounting brackets that are included. The first night we hooked the whole system I realized that I bought the wrong Y connector to connect this subwoofer to my receiver so we had to watch a movie without it. The sound with just these speakers was still very good even without a subwoofer. Compared to the Bose satellite speakers that I had before, these were much better. I realized that the reason I couldn’t hear what people were saying in the movies wasn’t because we had the volume too low or just the acoustics, but because the sound wasn’t as crisp and clear as it was with these speakers. I could actually turn the sound way down and still hear conversations. The sound was also great when we turned up the volume. There was a movie with a plane going across the screen and my sister was upstairs and said it sounded like the plane was going across the room, beneath the floor. She said she could feel the vibration in the floorboards. (This was the next day with the subwoofer hooked up).

The sound was amazingly realistic. There was a scene in the movie where a door was opening, far to the left of where the speaker is placed. The door sounded just like the door in our family room and it made me jump because I thought somebody had opened the door. These speakers really make you feel like you’re in the middle of the movie rather than just watching it. With the previous Bose system (which I thought sounded great at the time) I would hear the sound coming from the speakers, mostly. With these Mirage speakers, the sound is just there, in appropriate places. I finally know what real “surround sound” sounds like.

Two thumbs up for these speakers. Anything that can sound great in this acoustical nightmare of a room has to be good.

A disappointment1
I bought this speaker set from Amazon Marketplace in May 2009 and connected it to my Denon receiver. It certainly gave a better performance as compared to my old sony (an inexpensive set) speakers. However, in November the center channel speaker started giving muffled sound. I could hardly hear the dialogue from Blue Ray movies. I contacted the sellers and they referred me to the manufactureres. My experience with them was not very pleasant. The manufacturers ultimately referred me to a third party service center who were quite unprofessional. The bottomline is that after paying more that $700 on a set of speakers, we should get quality performance. The manufacturers should improve the quality of their products as well as service.

Great Speakers!4
These speakers are great… i got them at Best Buy 50% off. I think for $460 its definately worth the price. but at full price, ($900+) i probably wouldnt go with these considering you have to purchase the subwoofer separately (another $360). in that case i would go with Definitive Technologies ProCinema 600. the sound was just a little better and for $799 u get the 5.1 instead of the 5.0.
But price aside, these are great!

Great movies, but screwed-up transfers3
I was so excited when I heard about the Billy Madison/Happy Gilmore box set several months ago. I was hoping Universal would FINALLY be giving us the definitive versions of both flicks. The results are a mixed bag.

The colors look great and the sound mixes are much improved, but both transfers are wrongly framed. They appear to have been zoomed in and cropped. If you’ve seen the original Billy Madison DVD and compare the two, you’ll see lots of visual information cropped off the top and bottom of the picture. It looks awful and is really distracting. We’re talking cutting off the heads of characters and scenery.

The discs have some really grainy deleted scenes, most of which are second takes and jokes that didn’t work. Why did Universal screw with these flicks??

Where’s My Snack Pack?5
In my teens, when Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore came out, these two movies were very heavily quoted by my friends and I. This was where Adam Sandler broke out of his SNL persona and came into his own – and where his fans were born. Both movies are hilarious and you have to appreciate the bonus material included on the special edition DVDs in this collection. The characters of Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore are both essentially the character of the on-screen Adam Sandler, which is what fans want to see. His comedy is inventive and unique – and these movies were our first real glimpse at the depth of his comedic abilities outside of SNL sketches.

Regardless of the negative reviews this DVD collection has received due to supposed problems with the visual formatting and such, I love it. I knew these movies well and I see nothing different in these DVD versions. They look and sound great.

Highly Recommended.

Where It All Began3
It is hard to believe that after Memorial Day that Sandler will have made 12 movies since these. Both of these movies are worth repeated watches; however, don’t be fooled by the “new bonus features”. The deleted scenes are far less produced that the final film, and the dialogue is almost impossible to hear in some scenes. The bloopers are not that funny either. That being said, these are still two fine movies. The main draw to me for the combo set was that I could get the widescreen version which I had previously been unable to find. If this is not important to you, you will probably be better off trying to find them separately. Finally, each movie on its own is worth 4 stars, but I knocked down my rating because of what I have mentioned above.

What Customers are Saying:

Terrible – Instant-Strip-Screws1
These screws are made of aluminum which means that they will not rust. Unfortunately, the aluminum is so soft that they can not be used. I tried several screws and they all stripped when I used my drill. This is bad for two reasons

1 – They will strip before you can get them flush

2 – They are difficult to remove once they are 1/2 into the stud

Final Verdict -I had to return them back to the store. Do yourself a favor and just buy regular (and cheaper)
wood screws.

1 Star

Do not buy these screws1
These screws are awful. They will not sink flush with the track. They strip very easily. You can do what the second review said and take a lot more time is needed. Or you can buy regular 2 inch dry wall screws and have a much easier time. I like the way the dark screws contrast with the white tracks. To sum up this review, DO NOT BUY THESE SCREWS.

Use With Care for a Finished Look to your Geartrack System5
Another reviewer has commented on the shortcomings of these screws and his points are well taken. However, if you pre-drill the tracks, drill a countersink and drill a pilot hole in the stud or masonry, these screws work well and give a nice finished look. Use a hand screw driver, other wise you will destroy the screws. If you use a little patience and take care these screws do the job and look nice.
