Nope. Alien: Resurrection holds the title as thje worst Alien movie. This film simply should have been the Ruin of the Alien series, or at least for Ripley. As far as I am concerned, this IS the last movie, because Resurrection is not a share of the Alien series, it is more of a ‘wacky spin-off adventure’.

In this violent, but sometimes poignant film, we contemplate the survivors of the Sulaco, Ripley, Hicks, Newt and Bishop peacefully in hypersleep, drifting home. Unfortunately, they had failed to realize something very well-known. When the Queen managed to find on the dropship, she had also laid an egg where she hid on the ship. While drifting abet to earth, the egg hatched. The facehugger tried to acquire into Newt’s capsule, and the shattering glass pierced the creatures, its acidic blood eating through the floor causing a fire. Then the horror begins yet again…

The Sulaco’s emergency prep drops the cryo tubes into an EEV(Emergency Run Vehicle) and ejects it out into station, with the facehugger collected on board. IT plummeted into the gravitational pull of Fiorina ‘Fury’ 161, a double-Y chromo prison facility. The EEV plummets into the ocean with disastrous results.

Be prepared to atomize any emotional attachments you made to the surviving characters. The landing was quite horrid. The inmates remove the tattered EEV out of the ocean and into the junk pile, bringing RIpley, the only survivor, to the medical facility. However, as the EEV is placed in the garbage heap, one of the in-mate’s Rottweiler is inflamed by movement in the EEV…it is the facehugger.

Shortly thereafter, we peek a mark modern breed of alien. With the replicated genes of a dog, this alien runs on all fours, is incredibly hastily, and is by far the meanest Alien we have ever seen in this movie series yet! When the Warden does not beleive Ripley’s account, even after some of the inmates are turning up murdered, it is up to her and her current found friend, Dr. Clemens, to try and convince them all what they are dealing with, but it may already be too gradual, as Ripley herself is carrying with her a despicable secret, that not even she knows about yet…

Although this movie got unpleasant reviews, and is my least accepted among the trilogy(I do not think Resurrection a fragment of the series), I definitely mediate that the Runner, or Dog Alien, is probably the best alien in all the movies. Unbeleivably vicious and objective, to quote Superintendant Andrews, ‘Generally Unpleasant’, the beast has a mean slide and often toys with the prisoners, making this the darkest and most violent of the trilogy.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Alien 3! Click Here

The unpleasant parts about the movie are definite. After seeing the Colonial marines in action, it is tough to notice the events of this movie. You will miss the marines. Another very troubling aspect is the deahts of Hicks and Newt, whom Ripley had strived so very hard to rescue in the last movie, only to have their lives sorrowfully taken from them. Seeing Hicks die, as my common character from Aliens, was upsetting. The acting isn’t exactly top notch, but you will grow to like a few of the prisoners, namely Morse and Dillon. Not the best in the trilogy, but it definitely brings a superior closure to the series. Unfortunately, Alien: Resurrection ruined this closure by bringing us a rather unpleasant set and extremely dreadful acting, not to mention a whole modern recall on the Aliens, which i felt was lifeless and unnecessary. Sustain Alien 3 as the final movie. Scrutinize Alien: Resurrection if you are in the mood for a ‘wacky spin-off’, because that is all it is.

I remember the long wait between the release of this movie and “Aliens” and the vast amount of anticipation that was built up around this movie considering how astounding the first two films were and objective imagining how colossal this one was “going” to be. Then its release date came and it received generally unpleasant reviews and collectively, the majority of the fans were highly disappointed by it, including myself. That being said, I was quite reluctant to exhaust the money on this DVD but after reading some of the other determined reviews I decided to give this film one more chance and now, after having watched it again I would have to say I’ve completely changed my mind.

Alien 3 unbiased wasn’t as terrible as I remembered it to be from that one time viewing in the theater so many years ago and in fact, stylistically, it’s a movie that was ahead of its time. Ultimately, I believe what turned so many people off of this film when it was released is that it was so dramatically different from the first two that it initially impartial didn’t seem as though it belonged in the mythos that is the Alien legacy. The one thing about this film that does design it skedaddle is its pacing. What the director appeared to be reaching for was the same feel that “Alien” engendered but in the demolish, in reaching for that intense atmosphere didn’t always work and only resulted in the stride slowing down and too puny suspense. As stated above though, thematically it was honest years ahead of its time and I acquire, were it a movie that were originally released more recently, with some minor changes, it might’ve garnered distinguished more success in the theaters.

Performance wise, Sigourney Weaver does objective as astounding a job with this film as she did with the first two and, not to mention, she co-produced the film, further showing her serve for the script and this addition to the Alien mythos. Charles S. Dutton’s role in the film is “over the top,” as his acting usually is and it fits quite well with the character.

David Fincher, who took up the directing mantle for “Alien 3″ deserves a glorious amount of credit for the thematic style of this film, bringing the recent sage and screenplay to fruition. Twelve years ago, I would’ve said don’t ever let the man snort again, but this second viewing of “Alien 3″ and after seeing some of the other films he’s directed since, I would definitely have to say that he is a very superior director!

This Collector’s Edition release comes with two options, the fresh 1992 Theatrical version or a 2003 Special Edition. One label of caution, the Special Edition doesn’t really add too distinguished to the film, but of the limited piece that is added, it helps to state up the sage that great better. The THX certification and 5.1 Dolby Surround is perfect for the film, bringing out the accept beautifully!

The Premise:

As Ripley, Hicks, Newt and Bishop are slumbering away in hyper sleep, hoping to next wake up advance Earth, the ship suddenly encounters problems of the alien kind. Being the suitable futuristic starship that it is, it noble ejects Ripley and the bodies of her companions on a prison planet. Ripley awakens to obtain herself on this prison planet and not long thereafter, prisoners initiate showing up lifeless and Ripley herself finds that her worst nightmare has approach factual…

What follows from there, as stated above, is most certainly not the best of the Alien series but it is most definitely a lot better movie than my initial assessment of it had been. I would definitely recommend this film to any and all fans of the Alien series, as I gain it plays an integral portion in the mythos. {ssintrepid}

Don’t rep me gross, I judge Bionicle is Ok. I’m not as substantial a fan as my brother, but living with him, I’ve had to derive to know a thing or two about this series.

Web of Shadows was not unpleasant, it was certainly better than the first and maybe moreso than the second, but it is soooo determined that these are unbiased one Large commercial.

Overall, the situation line is a bit outmoded and hard to obtain caught up into. There are several sequences, such as “Keetongu” (or however it is spelled) or the transformation of the toa that will have anyone that is not a die hard fan rolling their eyes. Roodaka, the queen, was a refreshing unique twist on the scenario and gave us something provocative, however, the relationships of the toa quiet seemed rather forced, which is somewhat surprising at this point.

Fans of the “bionicle” series will rejoice at yet another installment of their approved series, but there isn’t grand here for anyone else. If you don’t know mighty about the state, search for this with someone who knows all the names, locations, and references made, because you won’t understand a word of this account otherwise.

The Bionicle movies impartial support getting better with every release!

Web of Shadows features the best CGI thus far in the series along with the greatest action sequences to date. The screech acting is again top level and the storyline logicaly fits between “Screen” and “Ledgends”. This is a must pick for any fans or owners of the first two DVDs.

MGM released a DVD edition of “The Noble, the Abominable and the Horrid” in the slack 1990s, but it had few extras, a mono soundtrack, and a scratched print. Finally, MGM has given Sergio Leone’s Western anecdote the double-disc special edition it deserves. The print is restored and as distinct as I’ve ever seen it, the sound is now an extraordinary 5.1 Surround (listen to the glass falling off Tuco after he springs through the window in the opening sequence!) nineteen minutes of footage from the Italian novel have been restored, and the discs are packed with extras. Even the packaging is great: a sturdy interlocking box, with the DVDs kept in the upper and bottom parts of the two lids. Also inside the box are cards containing posters for the film in five different countries.

The film, like most of the European Westerns of the 1960s, was critically disregarded in its day. The Recent York Times said of it: “the most expensive, pious, and repellent movie in the history of its uncommon genre. There is scarcely a moment’s respite from the distress.” It’s incredible how people missed the brilliance of this movie, which turned Western conventions upside down in such a wonderfully bizarre, European scheme. Now the film is considered a classic, and only Sergio Leone’s beget “Once Upon a Time in the West” (another sizable 2 DVD spot, by the device) has more respect in the genre. Leone’s uncommon style — stretched out time, obsession with close-ups and improper wide-shots, focus on rituals, and employ of Morricone’s wild and avant-garde gather — are all in bulky force in this narrative of three treasure-seekers searching for a cache of gold coins on the Texas-New Mexico border during the Civil War. The implacable and unflappable ‘hero’ Blondie (Clint Eastwood), the crazy droll bandit Tuco (Eli Wallach), and the calculating base sadist Angel Eyes (Lee Van Cleef) inappropriate each other’s paths amidst the senseless violence of the war. Leone perfectly contrasts the self-interested men with the greater backdrop of the tragedy of war. It’s a strangely emotionally affecting describe despite its focus on three men who are calm from normal society and seem not to care about anything but money. So many individual scenes stand out for their virtuosity that the movie a parade of “greatest hits.” Most extraordinary of all is “The Ecstasy of Gold” sequence where Tuco dashes madly through a cemetery, looking for the grave that might enjoy the gold. Morricone’s music here is especially overwhelming.

Chances are you’ve seen the film and appreciate it. What about the recent scenes and the extras?

Nineteen minutes of footage have been restored that were never shown in the American prints. The scenes integrate perfectly into the film, and after seeing them once, you won’t be able to imagine they were ever missing. Among the scenes are Angel Eyes visiting a destroyed fort; Tuco hiring bandits to support him hasten Blondie; Blondie and Angel Eyes having a face-to-face when they first situation out together to fetch the gold; and some extra conversation between Tuco and Blondie in the desert. However, these scenes were never dubbed into English in the 1960s. Therefore, the DVD producers had to newly dub them. Eli Wallach and Clint Eastwood do their believe voices. An actor named Simon Prescott does the imitation of the deceased Lee Van Cleef. Admittedly, Wallach and Eastwood no longer sound the same, but I couldn’t imagine someone else imitating their voices — it couldn’t have been done any other contrivance. Prescott is stunning agreeable as Angel Eyes, if a bit more gravelly.

The extras…

Disc 1 has audio commentary by Richard Shickel, a film historian who wrote Eastwood’s biography and also did commentary on Leone’s “Once Upon a Time in America” DVD. His comments can be resplendent dry, and he focuses mostly on Leone’s style and techniques instead of on background information on the filming itself. Nonetheless, there are many bright insights, and Shickel manages to say a lot during the three-hour running time.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly – Extended Cut! Click Here

Most of the extras are on Disc 2:

“Leone’s West” — A 20-minute documentary about the making of the film. Includes interviews with Shickel, producer Alberto Grimaldi, author of the English dialogue Mickey Knox, and best of all, Eastwood and Wallach. There’s some very bright info and memories here, mostly from Knox and the two actors.

“The Leone Style” — A 23-minute documentary, really objective an extension of the first one. It spends more time on Leone’s new techniques. The same interviewees appear here.

“The Man Who Lost the Civil War” — A 14-minute documentary that was produced separately from the DVD. It makes no mention of the movie, but is about its historical backdrop: the disastrous General Sibley campaign in Texas. Sibley appears in the film briefly, and this short documentary gives the viewer an essential insight into the world of Blondie, Tuco, and Angel Eyes.

“Reconstructing The Fine, the Poor and the Hideous” — An 11 exiguous survey into the painstaking work keen with fixing the characterize and sound, restoring the prick scenes, and re-dubbing it.

“Il Maestro: Ennio Morricone” — 8 minutes; mostly an interview with music scholar John Burlingame about the film’s come by. At the waste of the feature, you can resolve to listen to an audio-only twelve-minute lecture by Burlingame that provides a noteworthy more in-depth analysis of the music.

“Deleted Scenes” — Two scenes couldn’t go support into the film. The extended torture scene had a damaged negative, so here it is in its rougher station. An apparently lost scene is reconstructed through text, stills, and clips from the French trailer.

Finally, there’s a gallery of posters, the novel trailer, and MGM tossing in some gratuitous advertising for their other films.

Don’t miss this DVD. Not only is it one of the large action films and one the tremendous westerns, but it’s the kind of release that the DVD format was invented for!

“The Suited, the Poor and the Repulsive” is Sergio Leone’s anecdote masterpiece. While it is fragment of his Spaghetti Western Trilogy( all three films have different characters and plots), the film stands on its gain and really shows you how safe a movie can really be. This movie has it all. It has action, drama and even some funny relief in it. It is a timeless classic that is unforgettable. When I first saw it, I was a small kid and couldn’t truly enjoy it as I can now at age 22.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly – Extended Cut! Click Here

Blondie (The Man with No Name) isn’t your typical top-notch guy. He mainly does things that suits his bear agenda. However, when compared to the murderous Angel Eyes and the greedy Tuco, Blondie is a saint. This account involves bloodshed, shoot-outs, search for like, and double-crossing. And it all takes set while the Civil War is going on, which makes things a lot more “titillating” for the noted three. The West has never been wilder or more unpredictable than it is now. With an astounding pick up, suited acting, and wonderful story-telling, this is one memorable film that you will never forget.

As I said in the beginning, the first time I saw this was when I was a dinky kid. When I impartial recently purchased this unusual edition of the movie, it truly was like I was watching it for the first time. Coming from a guy who isn’t a great fan of Westerns (I don’t mind them, but I don’t peep too many of them), I absolutely LOVED this film. In fact, I wanted to give it a standing ovation when it was all said and done due to how moved I was by it. This really is filmmaking at its finest. I wasn’t terribly impressed with Leone’s “Once Upon a Time in America,” but he is absolutely flawless with this fantastic and timeless Western. It is slower than the second film (”For a Few Dollars More”), but I deem that makes this all the better. The effect up of tension is powerful more expose in this film, and you really accumulate the sense that these characters are exact people. Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach are shiny in their roles, and a lot of props need to go to Lee Van Cleef as he is absolutely chilling in his role.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly – Extended Cut! Click Here

This unique edition really does the film the justice it deserves. The film has been restored to the director’s current vision as distinguished as possible, giving you an extra 18 minutes. You will glance the added scenes as the voices have been re-dubbed (the first time you will explore this will throw you, as I believe that specific piece has the worst re-dubbing, but the other added scenes are done a lot better, even if you calm study it) . The portray looks improbable and the sound is enormous. Extras included are commentary from Richard Schickel, a couple of documentaries and featurettes, poster gallery, deleted scenes and the current theatrical trailer. Along with the nice packaging, you collect an 8-page booklet that includes pictures from the film along with Roger Ebert’s most unique review of the film. And, you glean some mini-posters included inside the packaging as well. A respectable edition of the movie, without inquire.

“The Excellent, the Unpleasant and the Frightening” is a pure triumph in filmmaking and should be seen by everybody at least once. Don’t let the fact that this is a Western throw you. I reflect this can be enjoyed by everybody, and even by those who are not vast fans of Westerns. A film filled with authentic emotion and action, this is one that shouldn’t be missed by anyone. I Cherish this movie, and I cannot roar that enough. -Michael Crane

Every lover of film has had a pivotal film experience, the movie that made such an impact on them that they have never forgotten it. For me WITCHFINDER GENERAL is that film. I first saw it in 1969 as THE CONQUERER WORM (AIP’s American release title designed to cash in on the Vincent Price/Edgar Allan Poe series although the movie has nothing to do with Poe) . I was 17 years worn, honest about to complete my junior year of high school in Greenville SC, and was a gigantic fan of the Roger Corman/Vincent Mark Poe series. I had seen very few films that would not qualify as G rated. The ratings system had honest been introduced the year before and this film was rated M (for archaic audiences, later GP then PG) . It was a complete shock to the system in every device. It was the first time I had seen nudity/lovemaking before and the violence was painful and frightful. Vincent Effect was wintry and hard without a stamp of his usual mannerisms and therefore not sympathetic in the least. To top it all off there was no satisfied ending and people were worse off than they were before. Of course these things had been in films since the mute era but it was the first time I had seen them and we always remember our firsts.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Witchfinder General! Click Here

I have seen honest about everything in the movies since then but seeing WITCHFINDER nearly 40 years later I’m amazed at how well it holds up. I am gratified to describe that after years of horrible VHS and Residence 2 DVD editions this version features the fresh director’s carve and restores the unique soundtrack which was not available in America. An added bonus is the commentary which features star Ian Ogilvy that fills in the background of the making of the film. For those who don’t know, the film is site during the English Civil War and pits two young lovers against a sadistic Puritan witchfinder. The director, Michael Reeves, died shortly afterwards of an accidental prescription drug overdose at the age of 25. The 5 star rating is purely subjective because of the distinguished fragment it played in my overall movie development but it’s a solid 4 star film anyway.

The Conqueror Worm is a textbook example of a movie’s potential prospects as an acknowledged classic being wrecked by the stupidity of critics and the cynical manipulations of a distributor underestimating the intelligence of American viewers. Distributed by AIP in America as “The Conqueror Worm” and purportedly “based on the writing of Edgar Allan Poe”, the film got buried by disinterested US critics who incorrectly passed it off as simply another addition to the increasingly monotonous Poe fare being churned out by AIP, Roger Corman and others. The casting of Vincent Sign, of course, only strengthened this miserable and indolent primary impulse. For this, the distributor is as grand to blame as the critics, by consciously pursuing a marketing strategy which implied precisely what critics chose to have. And by tampering with the film itself to contrive to provide a Poe connection (by adding prologue and epilogue commentary by Vincent Label quoting from Poe’s poem) AIP hung its sinking considerable reputation around the neck of this colossal movie. In fact, The Conqueror Worm has nothing to do with Edgar Allan Poe and was not even made by the AIP studio either. And when US critics began hearing European buzz about a enormous miniature awe movie called The Witchfinder General by an innovative young Brit director, Michael Reeves, how were they then to know it was the same movie they had so flippantly disregarded? By the time The Witchfinder General was rereviewed as the stand alone unusual it is, it was too leisurely. The movie’s moment had passed amongst the moviegoing mainstream. It is only through its devoted cult following that memory of it and its tragic young director (who died in mysterious circumstances at the age of 25) has deservedly been kept alive. Considered in the context of its time, The Conqueror Worm is a noteworthy, violent sage of hypocrisy and vengeance. It tells the sage of the villainous opportunist Matthew Hopkins and his sidekick, the brutish moron John Stearne, who went from village to village in Cromwellian England torturing, hanging and burning “witches”. The movie pulls no punches in its portrayal of the methods former by Hopkins and Stearne to extract confessions and valid punishment, but is also satisfyingly contemptuous in its portrayal of these two psychopaths. In this regard, Reeves manages something even Roger Corman couldn’t do: extract a layered, complex and credible performance from the normally corny Vincent Tag. This simply has to be one of his best performances ever – the one that could’ve given him consolidated mainstream respectability, but the one that probably the least people actually saw. Ian Ogilvy (TV’s The Saint – after Roger Moore’s stint) – is also very first-rate as the tender then vengeful soldier, Richard Marshall. I am of the conception that the novel reason this film got trumpeted as a scare movie related to the casting of Vincent Designate and AIP’s cynical business calculations. However, it is indeed a scare movie, fair not the kind of panic movie AIP wanted the public to gain. It falls rather – despite its pleasing costume dress and sets – into the same category of dismay sub genre which deals with studies of pure wicked a la Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. (In fact, the quick-witted, murderous collusion – and tension – between Hopkins and Stearne resembles somewhat the relationship between the calculating Henry and moronic Otis in the later movie.) The Conqueror Worm is also, however, a revenge movie – a kind of proto-Death Wish – in that the sage is driven by Richard Marshall’s obsessive quest to avenge the violation and rape of his fiance by both Hopkins and Stearne. The movie looks astounding, probably the best sense of that period ever captured on film. The shots of Marshall racing his horse through the English countryside under a foreboding evening sky are simply breathtaking. The images are strong and gloomy as well, contributing to a grave atmosphere of oppression in the air. The opening scenes – incorporating a lone townsman preparing a hilltop gallows against a gloomy sky and an customary woman being dragged to her execution – are as grand as anything you’ll ever spy. The incredible thing is, the movie never lets up on this opening power. It runs its violent course without dragging and delivers a graceful visual feast of violence and noxious. This movie absolutely has to secure its device to DVD – and soon. And, for once, the audience frustration that builds up in the face of hypocrisy and cruelty, is satifactorily resolved. So, for those of you who are calm distress up from having experienced Nicholas Hytner’s lustrous version of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, glimpse this movie to derive the closure you need! Highly recommended to serious moviegoers and collectors – but also as a mountainous midnight with popcorn movie for couples! At under $12, capture, remove, occupy. Or wait for the DVD which will be graceful.
